| Perhaps our favorite thing in the world to talk about is crust. After all, we are a bunch of pot pie nerds. The crust in our pies is simply wonderful. It's light, flaky and delicious. Why you may ask? Ok, we'll tell you some, but not all of our secrets. |
| Unlike the crust used in America's largest selling potpie which is made with hydrogenated soybean oil, water, dairy product solids and caramel color, we simply use butter, ultra-pasteurized whole eggs, water, sugar and salt. Did we forget to mention that we also egg-wash the top of every pie before it goes into the oven? It really isn't more complicated than that.
| Our flour isn't fed from silos, mixed in huge vessels and extruded minutes before being placed into pie shells. Our dough making process takes days not minutes. We mix our dough in small batches — ingredients are added slowly like our butter which is creamed so that everything combines perfectly. Then we allow it to rest and cool overnight which helps to develop flavor and texture. The next day, our dough is hand sheeted and folded, then rested — exactly the way a croissant is made — that's why our crusts are so light and flaky — even in a microwave oven. |

| Ok, we also like to talk about our fillings. After all, as the expression goes, the true measurement of quality is what's on the inside. Here's a three step process to understand what's really inside a pot pie. |
| Did you know, the FDA requires food companies to list all of the ingredients that go into their products in descending order. Well, if you look at our label, the first ingredient will always be what's in the name of the product. That is to say, chicken will always be the first ingredient in our Chicken pot pie — beef in our beef pot pie — you get the idea. That's the way we think it should be.
| That's right keep looking at that label. If you need a moment to find your readers glasses, we understand. When you look at our label we don't think you'll find it difficult to pronounce any of the ingredients. That's because we don't use preservatives. What we do use are all-natural ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible.
| Ok, now get out the magnifying glass. Our quality standards go way beyond just not using preservatives — quality is about what we do use. That is to say, our poultry is all-natural and never ever "Pumped". Our beef is only 100% all-natural USDA Lean Choice Angus or better. Our dairy is farm fresh. And our produce is locally sourced whenever possible. As Cravery grows, so shall our commitment to use only poultry and beef that meets the Certified Humane Farm Animal Care Program standards — standards that include a nutritious vegetarian diet without antibiotics, stimulants or hormones — standards for raising poultry and beef and providing them with sufficient space to grow naturally. |
